2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Off-Road Capabilities
The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser is famed for its off-road prowess, and the 2025 model does not disappoint. It offers crawl control, a kind of low-speed cruise control for navigating tough terrain, and four parking sensors to assist in difficult environments. The spare tire is cleverly stored underneath the vehicle to save trunk space, making the most of every inch for functionality.
2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Interior Design & Features
The interior of the “2025 Toyota Land Cruiser” is just as impressive, balancing comfort with practicality:

Transmission: 8-speed automatic
Fuel Consumption: 10.5 L/100 km

The highly anticipated 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is generating excitement with its upgraded features and enhanced feel. Positioned between the upcoming 4Runner and the Lexus GX, this vehicle shares the same architecture as its counterparts but with unique touches that give it a more upmarket feel.
Interior Comfort and Space
The interior, especially in the base 1958 model, features breathable cloth seats that are heated and comfortable. Opting for the leather seats adds even more comfort with additional adjustments.
The Land Cruiser is strictly a two-row vehicle, whereas the Lexus GX offers a third-row option. Despite sharing the same wheelbase, the GX is slightly longer. However, the load floor of the Land Cruiser is somewhat higher due to the battery pack beneath, though it’s still practical with 38 cubic feet of cargo space and a split-opening rear tailgate for easy access.
The cabin is thoughtfully designed, with physical controls, a low dashboard, and excellent visibility. It’s practical for everyday use, and the premium JBL audio system makes long drives more enjoyable. In higher trim levels, the center console even functions as a cooler—ideal for road trips or camping.
Exterior Design and Off-Road Capability
The exterior styling blends modern touches with classic Land Cruiser elements, particularly in the front and side profiles. The rear, inspired by the J80 series, may remind some of the Dodge Nitro, but overall, it maintains a cohesive design.
Off-road capability is a highlight, with the Land Cruiser offering a 31-degree approach angle, which is better than the GX. It also has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, making it suitable for overlanding and other rugged terrains. The suspension includes a multilink front end and a live axle in the rear, allowing the vehicle to tow up to 6,000 lbs.
Powertrain and Performance
In the U.S., the Land Cruiser comes with the I-Force Max 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing around 270-280 horsepower. Paired with a nickel-metal hydride battery, it delivers electric assistance without the cost and complexity of lithium-ion batteries. While fuel economy isn’t stellar (17-18 MPG city, 20+ MPG highway), the four-cylinder engine provides consistent torque and a smooth driving experience, both on-road and off-road.
The drivetrain includes a full-time four-wheel drive system with a Torsen lockable center differential. Higher trims offer additional off-road features like a disconnecting front sway bar, but even the base model is robust and reliable. The Land Cruiser is made in Japan, is known for its high-quality engineering, and is expected to have long-term durability.
Driving Dynamics and Final Thoughts
On the road, the Land Cruiser feels refined, with better on-road dynamics than its predecessors. It doesn’t wander at highway speeds, and the ride is smooth, even on rougher terrain. The cabin remains quiet at higher speeds, with only minor wind noise typical of boxy SUVs.
Overall, the “2024 Toyota Land Cruiser” is a versatile SUV that balances off-road prowess with everyday usability. It’s a vehicle designed to last, and while it may seem pricey, especially for the base model at around $60,000, it offers simplicity and durability in a market filled with tech-heavy competitors. Whether you’re using it for daily driving or rugged adventures, the Land Cruiser delivers on both fronts.

We tested the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, faithful roots.
I know the route, and unless heavy rain is trying to cover it up, light trucks with more air than capabilities can navigate it, although with a good level of caution. In the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, however, it feels more like a dirt road that is not intimidating as I relax with another sip of coffee.
It’s not raining anymore, but the mud that the Yokohama Geolandar A/T (265/65 R18) tires are quietly traversing lets us know that it cleared up not long ago. Like the other two versions of the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, this TX-L (intermediate between the TX and the First Edition) has permanent four-wheel drive, and so far, it hasn’t been fazed.
After taking some photos before the mud starts to cover it and overcoming a climb with loose stones that could have given other trucks a hard time but which did not even make this Prado skid, one of the most interesting sections of this route follows: a short and relatively steep descent always covered in mud. The tracks show that a tractor must have passed not long ago, leaving it deeper than it would have liked.
It’s not that I’m suspicious… or maybe I am (especially because I don’t want to wait for the next tractor that I don’t know if it will come to ask for a painful tow), but the Toyota emblem on the steering wheel and 4×4 outputs on past occasions remind me that I shouldn’t have to worry.
I press the DAC Crawl button, which activates the system, which works like off-road cruise control, modulating the accelerator and brake according to the conditions, and I concentrate only on the steering wheel.
I move forward. If it weren’t for the sound of the brakes automatically activating, the operation of this system would be invisible, even in the deepest hole that should have been shown on the inclinometer in the digital instrument panel, but that I didn’t see because I was focused on the front. As if nothing had happened, this piece ends, and… if it could lower it, it could raise it, right?
Yes. After looking for enough space to turn around in this body of not inconsiderable 4.95 meters long and 1.98 meters wide (very good turning radius of the steering, by the way), and being at the lowest part of what is now a muddy climb, I move forward again.
A slight pressure on the accelerator is enough; the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2025 begins to climb and, again as if nothing had happened, that climb that would have intimidated some and blocked others did not even ‘mess up’ it.
While in other cars, you as a driver strive to find the easiest way to get them over the obstacles while the uncertainty of achieving it (and hopefully without scars) keeps turning in your head, in the Prado, it is the one that pushes you, encouraging you to find something worthy of your capabilities and not putting it through something that, regardless of the cost, any other truck could overcome.
Much of this is down to its new engine. Leaving behind the 4.0-liter petrol V6 and the 3.0-liter turbo diesel of the previous generation, we now have only (for now) a 2,393 cc turbo four-cylinder engine whose 278 hp at 6,000 rpm improves on the 271 at 5,600 rpm of the V6, and whose 430 Nm not only improves on the 410 Nm of the diesel but is delivered over a wider curve, between 1,700 rpm and 3,600 rpm (the diesel has it between 1,600 rpm and 2,800 rpm).
Together with the also new eight-speed automatic transmission, the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado then results in a very capable mechanical proposition that plays a crucial role in its ability to climb anywhere.
Built on the TNGA-F platform, shared with its older sister, the Land Cruiser 300, it has a double wishbone suspension at the front, telescopic shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar, and a four-link multilink system at the rear. Maintaining the body-on-chassis construction instead of switching to a monocoque offers greater rigidity than before, and it provides the possibility of equipping electric steering assistance for the first time.
What does all this mean? Even on the highway or going fast on unpaved roads, you still feel a lively rear axle (which will surely be better supported if you go with a full seat and luggage). The ride is undoubtedly more stable than before. At the same time, the steering helps to give a greater feeling of security.
The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable and, in conjunction with the also adjustable steering column (this one is manually adjustable), provides a sufficiently comfortable driving position. Visibility forward and to the sides is beyond reproach (rearward visibility is impaired but compensated for by the reversing camera), and space is more than generous.
There are ventilation outlets even for the third bench seat. As expected, this seat will be relegated to children on short journeys, especially since the trunk is reduced to a minimal expression.
Something very important to keep in mind, and at the risk of being controversial, is that the price of a car is not the only thing that places it in a segment, so the fact that it costs 375.9 million pesos (at the time of this publication) does not mean that the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TX-L 2025 is a premium vehicle.
For those looking for a large, spacious, comfortable, well-equipped SUV with the refinement and performance that only a premium car approaching 400 million pesos can deliver, the SUV portfolios of European brands are a safe bet to satisfy those tastes.
The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado offers a shortened version of that equipment and class because, to the delight of that group of people whose life begins where the asphalt ends, the priority of this new generation continues to be those off-road capabilities that many imitate but very few, if any, match.
Outside of cruise control, there are no driving aids, for example, not even blind spot alert; the overall ride refinement does not have the soundproofing that some would like or might expect (but with its square shape and large mirrors, of course), and the plastics throughout the cabin, although surely resistant and durable, are still far from what is seen in other trucks with even lower prices.
To some extent, we could say that the Toyota 2025 Land Cruiser Prado compensates for this with other equally valuable and, some would say, more practical elements: the wireless phone charger, wireless connectivity for Apple Car Play and Android Auto, heated front seats, ventilation outlets for all three seats, and multiple USB charging ports, among others.
